Animatronics for a Silicone Sculpture
I was recently commissioned to animate this kinetic silicone 'Globster' sculpture by emerging Melbourne artist Anastaszia Ward.
The sculpture was required to pulsate with life, but slowly enough that it wasn't immediately noticeable. The video below shows the movement of the sculpture and also some shots of the inner workings.
Concept, design, and silicone skin by Anastaszia Ward (website).
Animatronics and cabinet construction by Nick Calver.

Mechanical Design
I am currently expanding my capabilities in designing mechanisms commonly used in creature suits / animatronic puppetry.
Below is the backpack unit in development for my Fish Girl project. Two servos control the tentacles and a small hand pump (compressed with a servo) was used to inflate two bladders which flared the gills.
